A modern website for one of North America’s plastic film distributors, from wireframes to custom development.
/ 01 Overview
PolymerFilms supplies plastic films to industries from aerospace to ID cards. Its old website no longer matched the depth of that catalog. With the 5ivecanons team, the redesign turned a large catalog of films, applications, datasheets and services into a site customers can browse, compare and act on.
/ My Role
Structure: Wireframes for the homepage, catalog, applications, services and resources
Interface design: UI components, cards, filters, tabs and quote forms
Visual system: Brand styles and a set of industry icons
Development: Responsive templates and interactive widgets
Tools: Datasheet library, film weight calculator, maps and carousels
/ 02 The Challenge
A technical catalog, explained to buyers in very different industries. Engineers need specifications. Purchasing teams need a quote. Everyone needs to find the right film without calling first.
/ What Had to Work
Catalog
A large range of films, searchable by product and by application.
Industries
Clear paths for markets from healthcare to photovoltaics.
Datasheets
Technical documents that are easy to find and download.
Services
Cutting and converting options explained without jargon.
Locations
Conversion and distribution centers across North America.
Quotes
A request for a quote within reach on every page.
/ 03 From Wireframe to Pixel
Every page started as a wireframe. Agreeing on structure first meant the design phase could focus on clarity and brand, and development started from layouts everyone had already approved.
Wireframes
Page structure and content priority, in grey, before any styling.
Brand styles
Type, color and link styles applied to the approved layouts.
Components
Cards, tabs, filters and forms designed as reusable pieces.
Build
Responsive templates and interactive widgets, tested page by page.
/ 04 Brand & Iconography
A distribution brand with more energy. The refreshed system pairs Usual Bold and Light headings with a green-and-blue palette, and a custom icon set gives every industry and application a recognizable symbol across the site.

/ 05 UI Components
Components built for a technical audience. Benefit pills, material filters, datasheet buttons, challenge-and-solution rows and application carousels turn dense product information into something people can scan.
- Application cards with an icon and a short label
- Benefit pills that highlight what a film does well
- Material solution filters (Teslin™, Lexan™, PETG, PVC, Polyester)
- Datasheet buttons with a clear download action
- Challenge and solution rows with a direct call to action
- Article and video cards for resources
/ 06 Product Catalog & Tools
Find the film, then everything about it. The catalog filters by product and application. Each product page brings together a summary, the applications it serves, its datasheet and a way to request a sample, and a film weight calculator estimates weight from the film type and size.
/ 07 Datasheets & Services
Technical answers without a phone call. Two resources carry most of the site’s technical weight: a searchable datasheet library, and a services page that turns cutting and converting into clear, comparable options.
/ 08 Outcome
A more engaging, modern website built around how customers actually look for film.
- Product browsing by film and by application
- A searchable library of downloadable datasheets
- A film weight calculator and quote requests throughout
- Application videos, maps and conversion center locations
- Interactive dropdowns, lightboxes, carousels and tabs
- A refreshed brand system with a custom icon set
/ 09 Reflection
Industrial sites don’t have to feel industrial. The catalog is deep and the language is technical, so the design work was mostly about order: wireframes to agree on structure, components to keep every page consistent, and small tools that answer questions before a customer has to ask.
